What is Community Supported Agriculture?
Instead of growing food to sell at farmers markets or supply to supermarket chains, a CSA farm is supported by seasonal subscriptions from the local community.
CSA members essentially buy a ‘share’ in the farms yields for a season. The OMG Farm offers Veggie Box subscriptions that last the 13 weeks of Summer, Autumn, Winter or Spring. We also have CSA subscriptions for Seedlings and Compost.
Unlike a supermarket, where vegetables suddenly increase in price when produce is falling out of season or weather is bad - on a CSA model you eat with the seasons and have the security of knowing exactly how much your veggies will cost.
With a CSA subscription you share directly in the farms abundance and support us through lean periods. On abundant weeks you will get more than your moneys worth in delicious fresh veggies, on leaner weeks veggie boxes may have less produce.
The OMG Farm has an average of 100 different species in the ground at any point in time, so you will always get a variety of fresh produce. What veggies you receive will evolve as the season progresses.
A CSA isn’t right for everyone. If you love variety and trying new foods, a CSA Veggie Box will be a revolution in your kitchen!
If you are looking for the same vegetables every week, a CSA may not be right for you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I need to commit to 13 weeks?
We don’t sell at farmers markets or supply to supermarket chains, so for our farm to function we need the commitment of customers for a full season. If you know you can't make a pick up then please let us know ASAP, we are flexible and can change your pick up date that week if you let us know in advance. If you don't collect your produce then it will be donated to a volunteer or people in need.
I can’t make the 9.30am-2.00pm pick up time. Can I collect my veggies later?
After hours pickups are fine but we recommend you collect your produce asap to ensure you are getting the freshest quality produce. We are a small operation and don't have refrigerator capacity for 50 boxes of vegetables.
If I miss a pick up one week do I get a refund?
No, for us to function as a sustainable business we need the customers commitment to pay for the full season.
If I let you know in advance that I won't make a pick up can I have an extra week?
No, but we can change your pick up date during that week, you can also gift your box to friends/family.
If I don't like something in my box, can I swap it for something else?
No, making bespoke boxes for everyone would create a lot more work for the farmers. We supply you with a very diverse box and we are happy to help you out with recipe ideas.
Can I volunteer?
Yes, our volunteer times are Wednesday afternoons 5pm-7pm.
Do you take food scraps/kitchen waste?
Yes, email omgcompost@gmail.com for more information.
